Entrevista con Chío Huerta, Artista y fundadora de Yolotzin Diseño Mexicano.
¿Qué es Yolotzin?
Quiere decir corazoncito en Nahuatl, viene de Yolotl que quiere decir corazón, es el nombre de mi proyecto, surgió hace 4 años y medio, se llamaba creaciones Zan Cihuatl, es mi pseudónimo para la escritura, me dedico a escribir desde hace 16 años, quería un proyecto que conjunte todo lo que estoy haciendo que no es solamente la parte de literatura, siempre busco nombres en Nahuatl porque creo que es la raíz de lo que quiero expresar a través de lo que hago, busqué algo que estuviera conectado conmigo y me permitiera conectar con los demás; Yolotzin DM es todo lo que quiero reflejar a través de lo que hago.
¿Cómo es tu trabajo en la marca?
Mis trabajos son diseños con el color de México, para mí México es diversidad en todos los sentidos, no es solo un color de piel o un tipo de creencia o un pensamiento, es esa diversidad que los colores me permiten expresar, no solamente una cosmovisión, yo tengo mucho amor a la cosmovisión indígena pero no solamente expreso eso a través del arte, como la creación no tiene límite, tampoco quiere limitarme a decir es un estilo u otro.
¿Desde cuándo te nació la inspiración de escribir y hacer arte?
Había una parte en mí reprimida desde la infancia, de niña me reprimí muchas cosas y de adulta empecé a sacarlas a través de la escritura, siempre me ha gustado la lectura, sobre todo en la adolescencia leía mucha poesía, iba a talleres de literatura, me gustaba ir a exposiciones de arte, conferencias, charlas, talleres, siempre estaba buscando aprender, ahí empecé a conectar un poco con la idea que tengo del arte que es, el arte es terapia. Descubrí que a través de arte uno puede expresar, liberar y reconocer sus emociones. La maestría fue ese trampolín para decir sí puedo, ya me cansé de las palabras, voy a crear y me fui por trabajo a Nayarit, ahí fue donde surgieron mis primeras ilustraciones.
¿Cómo fue el momento en que decidiste hacer tus poesías y tus ilustraciones en objetos?
Yo trabajaba en la selva con un biólogo que se dedicaba a esta parte de la concientización sobre las aves, no cazarlas o enjaularlas, yo estaba en el área de comunicación y me tocaba una vez a la semana ir a un mercadito para hablar de lo que hacía la asociación, ellos vendían souvenirs; todos los días que iba a trabajar pedía café y me lo daban en vaso de cartón y me di cuenta que cada día generaba basura, dije algún día voy a venir con mis poemas y fotos y los voy a poner en tazas para dar a conocer mi obra y ya no genero más basura. Es la idea central y uno de los objetivos que sigue mi marca, reducir el uso de desechables.
¿Qué consejo le darías a nuevos artistas que quieran empezar a emprender?
No cerrarse a una sola plataforma, la gente me pregunta por qué no me pongo en museos o galerías, no me quiero casar con la idea de que el arte solo encuentra ahí. Para mí el arte es algo que se comparte.
No limitarse por los cánones estéticos, filosóficos o sociales, sino hacer lo que a uno le diga el corazón que haga. Cada persona es un artista en el área que le apasiona, que le hace vibrar el corazón, le hace despertarse todas las mañanas.
Darle humildad a las cosas que uno hace.

Interview with Chío Huerta, Artist and founder of Yolotzin Diseño Mexicano.
What is Yolotzin?
It means little heart in Nahuatl, it comes from Yolotl which means heart, it is the name of my project, it emerged 4 and a half years ago, it was called Zan Cihuatl creations, it is my pseudonym for writing, I have been writing for 16 years, I wanted a project that combines everything I am doing which is not only the part of literature, I always look for names in Nahuatl because I think it is the root of what I want to express through what I do, I looked for something that was connected to me and allowed me to connect with others; Yolotzin DM is everything I want to reflect through what I do.
What is your work with the brand?
My works are designs with the color of Mexico, for me Mexico is diversity in every sense, it is not only a skin color or a type of belief or a thought, it is that diversity that the colors allow me to express, not only a worldview, I have much love for the indigenous worldview but not only express that through art, as creation has no limit, nor limit me to say it is a style or another.
Since when did you get the inspiration to write and make art?
There was a part of me repressed since childhood, as a child I repressed many things and as an adult I began to get them out through writing, I have always liked reading, especially in adolescence I read a lot of poetry, I went to literature workshops, I liked to go to art exhibitions, conferences, lectures, workshops, I was always looking to learn, there I began to connect a little with the idea I have of art which is, art is therapy. I discovered that through art one can express, release and recognize one's emotions. The master's degree was that springboard to say yes I can, I'm tired of words, I'm going to create and I went to Nayarit for work, that's where my first illustrations came from.
What was the moment when you decided to make your poetry and illustrations into objects?
I was working in the jungle with a biologist who was dedicated to raising awareness about birds, not hunting or caging them, I was in the communication area and once a week I had to go to a small market to talk about what the association was doing, they sold souvenirs; Every day I went to work I asked for coffee and they gave it to me in a cardboard cup and I realized that every day I generated garbage, I said someday I will come with my poems and photos and I will put them in cups to make my work known and I will no longer generate garbage. This is the main idea and one of the objectives of my brand, to reduce the use of disposable items.
What advice would you give to new artists who want to start entrepreneurship?
People ask me why I don't put myself in museums or galleries, I don't want to get married to the idea that art can only be found there. For me art is something that is shared.
Not to be limited by aesthetic, philosophical or social canons, but to do what your heart tells you to do. Each person is an artist in the area that he/she is passionate about, that makes his/her heart vibrate, that makes him/her wake up every morning.
