Entrevista con Harlan Estrada, Artista.
¿Cómo describirías el estilo de tus obras?
Simplificar colores, formas, me inspiro principalmente en la naturaleza, en los colores y la música, la música también es una gran influencia para mí.
¿Cómo es que te influencia la música para crear?
Está un poco vinculado a las emociones, vincular el sonido con el color, no es como que realmente lo planee o lo piense, en el día a día la música ha sido importante y siento que de cierta forma me influencia o me motiva.
¿Qué te impulsó a empezar a hacer arte?
Cuando terminé la prepa, decidí estudiar artes plásticas, pero fue un poco por influencia familiar y también porque descubrí que me gustaba mucho el estado contemplativo. Observar lo que me llamaba la atención. Estuve buscando en los programas académicos y me encontré con el de artes plásticas, me llamó la atención las materias, desde ahí empecé a irme por este camino.
¿De dónde te inspiras al momento de crear?
Tengo este proyecto que es el de ilustración y a parte también hago algunas otras cosas más personales como pintura o fotografía, dentro del proyecto de ilustración, lo que me inspira más son los animales, ver los animales en documentales o la vida diaria, por ejemplo, algunos de los retratos que hago son gatos que van a mi casa; encuentros que tengo con la naturaleza.
¿Cómo ves tu carrera en un futuro?
No es algo que haya pensado mucho, pero siempre me gustaría seguir pintando, ya sea en mi ilustración o en pintura.
¿En qué momento decidiste empezar a emprender con lo que tú ya estabas haciendo?
Cuando terminé de estudiar la maestría cuando surgió esta pregunta, ¿ahora qué hago?,¿de qué voy a vivir?, cuando decides estudiar artes, nunca te planteas eso, lo escoges porque es algo que te gusta mucho, no porque haya una gran oferta o dinero. Dentro de la maestría tuve una clase que era de música, sobre cómo la música se comercializa, cuando vi todo eso me hizo pensar en las artes, vas al museo a ver la pintura y ya, puede ser que la pintura no la puedas comprar por el precio, que no sea accesible a todo el público, estaría bien que eso pueda trasladarse a las artes plásticas, es algo que ya se ha hecho pero yo no era consciente de esa parte, empecé a hacer postales, ilustraciones para colorear y de ahí me fueron surgiendo más cosas que se puedan llevar las personas y regalar unas a otras.
¿Qué consejo le darías a cualquier artista que quiera empezar a emprender?
Puede parecer difícil en diferentes momentos, hay que tener paciencia.

How would you describe the style of your work?
Simplify colors, shapes, I am mainly inspired by nature, colors and music, music is also a big influence for me.
How does music influence you to create?
It's a bit linked to emotions, linking sound with color, it's not like I really plan it or think about it, on a day to day basis music has been important and I feel that in a way it influences me or motivates me.
What prompted you to start making art?
When I finished high school, I decided to study plastic arts, but it was a little bit because of family influence and also because I discovered that I really liked the contemplative state. Observing what caught my attention. I was looking at the academic programs and I came across the plastic arts program, the subjects caught my attention, from there I started to go down this path.
Where do you draw inspiration from when you create?
I have this illustration project and I also do some other more personal things like painting or photography, within the illustration project, what inspires me the most are animals, seeing animals in documentaries or daily life, for example, some of the portraits I do are cats that come to my house; encounters I have with nature.
How do you see your career in the future?
It's not something I've given much thought to, but I would always like to continue painting, either in my illustration or in painting.
At what point did you decide to start doing what you were already doing?
When I finished my master's degree, the question arose: what am I going to do now, what am I going to live off of, when you decide to study art, you never think about that, you choose it because you really like it, not because there is a great offer or money. When I saw all that it made me think about the arts, you go to the museum to see the painting and that's it, maybe you can't buy the painting because of the price, it's not accessible to the public, it would be nice if that could be transferred to the visual arts, it's something that has already been done but I was not aware of that part, I started making postcards, illustrations for coloring and from there I started to make more things that people can take and give to others.
What advice would you give to any artist who wants to start a business?
It may seem difficult at different times, you have to be patient.
