Entrevista con La Nube Roja, Galería.

¿Qué es La Nube Roja?

Cintli: Es una Galería itinerante, no contamos con un espacio físico, sino que trabajamos en colaboración, ahora estamos debutando nuestro proyecto en Espacio Kookay, estamos presentando una exhibición, la galería la dirigimos 4 artistas, Celes Orozco, Akari Chaires, Rubén Deneb y Cintli Canul, provenientes de diferentes lugares de México y fuera de México, es decir que tenemos 4 visiones diferentes. Nos conjuntamos aquí en Guanajuato, donde no solo vamos a hacer exposiciones temporales, sino que tenemos una lista de servicios que podemos desarrollar, por ejemplo, gestión de exposiciones de otros artistas, apoyar el arte de otras personas, talleres artísticos, diseño y gestión de catálogo de obras, museografía, curaduría, diseño de imagen de exposiciones, talleres de embalaje, entre otras cosas.

¿De dónde viene el nombre La Nube Roja?

Celes: Al momento de juntarnos cada quién expuso inquietudes, necesidades hasta que llegamos a un punto que tuvimos que decidir cuál iba a ser el nombre y esa fue Akari.

Akari: El nombre viene porque desde hace algunos años estaba pensando en una galería que fuera otras cosas también, me remití a Hermosillo, hay una parte de Guanajuato que te atrapa y te hace querer seguir aquí, pero seguimos siendo foráneos, tenemos bastantes años aquí en Guanajuato, ya no somos ni de aquí ni de allá, estamos como en medio, me he topado con muchas personas que tienen esta misma experiencia, la nube roja es este pensamiento de mi ciudad natal, los atardeceres de allá como es desierto son muy peculiares, porque las nubes son muy rojizas y tienen un degradado muy bonito, el recordar de dónde vengo.

¿Qué los motivó a empezar con este proyecto?

Celes: Hemos llegado aquí varios y nos hemos dado cuenta de las necesidades que hay en la comunidad del arte, tenemos la misma inquietud y el mismo potencial, es empezar a hacer algo como colectivo porque al final todos cojeamos de la misma pata, ¿por qué no hacerlo?, nosotros estamos aquí porque queremos hacer algo por la comunidad y por nosotros mismos también.

¿Cómo fue el proceso para organizarse a crear este proyecto?

Cintli: El proceso vino de la iniciativa de Celes.

Akari: Celes nos invitó, nos dijo que tenía la idea de un proyecto de una galería, al inicio había más personas, en todo este proceso hubo acuerdos y desacuerdos, nos reunimos, platicamos, hablamos al inicio de rentar un espacio físico, las implicaciones que eso conlleva, más en Guanajuato porque es caro rentar un local, tuvimos que tomar muchas decisiones, hubo personas que abandonaron el proyecto por esto mismo, diferentes ideas, al final quedamos el núcleo de las personas que realmente estábamos comprometidas y teníamos esta visión, entre esas decisiones fue sí, iniciar ya, no nos detiene no tener un espacio físico, una galería no tiene que ser exactamente un espacio físico, hay muchas galerías que son virtuales y también era nuestra idea empezar desde nuestro conocimiento pero aplicándolo a las tecnologías, cada quién tiene diferentes fuertes, Rubén está más con lo digital y visual, Cintli y yo somos más plásticas y visuales también y Celes nos ha ayudado mucho a enfocarnos porque él tiene una visión más de administración, nos ayuda a tener los pies en la tierra, uniendo estos puntos de vista fue que pudimos llegar a este punto.

¿Están pensando en recibir más colaboradores?

Cintli: Más bien que la gente quiera participar en nuestro proyecto, ya empezamos, lo que viene es que otros artistas quieran generar exposiciones y que contraten nuestros servicios como galería, para que nosotros encontremos un espacio, hagamos unos diseños, el montaje, todo eso.

¿Cómo buscan el espacio para exponer?

Celes: básicamente estamos iniciando en todo esto, estamos en el proceso de organización, vamos a ir buscando los espacios y además de buscarlos, vamos a encontrar.

Akari: Parte de escoger un lugar va a tener que relacionarse con si estamos de acuerdo con los términos del lugar, todas las galerías y espacios van a tener algunas condiciones y sí se llevan bien nuestros ideales y los del espacio, ahí es donde podemos exponer.

¿De qué trata la exposición actual?

Cintli: Estamos en Espacio Kookay, en Alhóndiga #99, hasta el 7 de noviembre, la entrada es gratuita, son 32 piezas, abierto todos los días.

Akari: son diferentes técnicas y el nombre es “De la oniria a la vigilia”.

Cintli: Cada quién tiene un estilo diferente, fue un poco mi idea que pudiéramos trabajar esos temas para hilar a partir de una temática que es lo que se debe hacer en una exposición.

Habla de los ciclos del sueño, del consciente e inconsciente.

Akari: Es un trayecto de abajo hacia arriba, que empieza con la vigilia, cuando decimos vigilia nos referimos al momento actual en el que estamos despiertos y conscientes, es una realidad editada de los puntos de vista de cada quién. Después hacemos el camino hacia la oniria, hablamos de este mundo en el que ya no somos conscientes, el mundo del sueño y confrontamos el estar despierto con el estar dormido.

¿Qué consejo le darían a alguien que quiere empezar un proyecto cultural?

Celes: documentarse, tienes que ver que hay otras áreas, que tienes que cubrir otras necesidades, hay que prepararse, no es un proceso del día al otro, es largo.

Cintli: Documentarse, preguntar, saber que no estás solo, siempre he pensado que a pesar de que tengo mis proyectos, trabajar sola no tiene mucho sentido, para eso estamos tantas personas, para ayudarnos, si alguien tiene alguna duda y quiere venir con nosotros y preguntarnos, no tenemos ningún problema en dar información.

Akari: Estar conscientes de que hay que hacer una planeación, si no tienes la base va a ser más complicado porque te puedes sabotear, debe haber el compromiso para que el proyecto no se caiga en seguido, confiar en las personas, acercarte y asesorarte.

Interview with La Nube Roja, Gallery.

What is La Nube Roja?

Cintli: It is an itinerant gallery, we do not have a physical space, we work in collaboration, now we are debuting our project in Espacio Kookay, we are presenting an exhibition, the gallery is run by 4 artists, Celes Orozco, Akari Chaires, Ruben Deneb and Cintli Canul, from different places in Mexico and outside Mexico, that is to say that we have 4 different visions. We come together here in Guanajuato, where we are not only going to do temporary exhibitions, but we have a list of services that we can develop, for example, management of exhibitions of other artists, support the art of other people, art workshops, design and management of catalog of works, museography, curatorship, image design of exhibitions, packaging workshops, among other things.

Where did the name La Nube Roja come from?

Celes: When we got together, each one of us expressed our concerns and needs until we reached a point where we had to decide what the name was going to be and that was Akari.

Akari: The name comes because for some years I was thinking about a gallery that was also about other things, I went back to Hermosillo, there is a part of Guanajuato that traps you and makes you want to stay here, but we are still foreigners, we have been here in Guanajuato for many years, we are neither from here nor from there, I have run into many people who have this same experience, the red cloud is this thought of my hometown, the sunsets there, as it is desert, are very peculiar, because the clouds are very reddish and have a very nice gradient, remembering where I come from.

What motivated you to start this project?

Celes: Several of us have come here and we have realized the needs that exist in the art community, we have the same concern and the same potential, it is to start doing something as a collective because in the end we are all limping on the same leg, why not do it, we are here because we want to do something for the community and for ourselves as well.

How was the process of organizing to create this project?

Cintli: The process came from Celes' initiative.

Akari: Celes invited us, he told us that he had the idea of a gallery project, at the beginning there were more people, in this whole process there were agreements and disagreements, we met, we talked, at the beginning about renting a physical space, the implications that this entails, more in Guanajuato because it is expensive to rent a place, we had to make many decisions, there were people who abandoned the project for this very reason, different ideas, in the end we were the core of people who were really committed and had this vision, among those decisions was yes, start now, a gallery does not have to be exactly a physical space, there are many galleries that are virtual and it was also our idea to start from our knowledge but applying it to technologies, each one has different strengths, Ruben is more digital and visual, Cintli and I are more plastic and visual too and Celes has helped us a lot to focus because he has a more administrative vision, he helps us to have our feet on the ground, by joining these points of view we were able to get to this point.

Are you thinking of receiving more collaborators?

Cintli: It's more that people want to participate in our project, we've already started, what's coming is that other artists want to generate exhibitions and that they hire our services as a gallery, so that we can find a space, make some designs, set up, all that.

How do you look for a space to exhibit?

Celes: Basically we are just starting all this, we are in the process of organization, we are going to look for spaces and besides looking for them, we are going to find them.

Akari: Part of choosing a place will have to do with whether we agree with the terms of the place, all the galleries and spaces will have certain conditions and if our ideals and those of the space match, that is where we can exhibit.

What is the current exhibition about?

Cintli: We are at Espacio Kookay, at Alhóndiga #99, until November 7, admission is free, there are 32 pieces, open every day.

Akari: They are different techniques and the name is "De la oniria a la vigilia".

Cintli: Everyone has a different style, it was my idea that we could work on these themes to spin from a theme, which is what should be done in an exhibition.

It talks about the cycles of sleep, the conscious and the unconscious.

Akari: It is a journey from the bottom to the top, which begins with wakefulness, when we say wakefulness we refer to the present moment in which we are awake and conscious, it is an edited reality of the points of view of each one. Then we make our way to oniria, we talk about this world in which we are no longer conscious, the world of the dream, and we confront being awake with being asleep.

What advice would you give to someone who wants to start a cultural project?

Celes: to document yourself, you have to see that there are other areas, that you have to cover other needs, you have to prepare yourself, it is not an overnight process, it is long.

Cintli: To document yourself, to ask, to know that you are not alone, I have always thought that even though I have my projects, working alone does not make much sense, that's why there are so many of us, to help each other, if someone has a doubt and wants to come with us and ask us, we have no problem giving information.

Akari: To be aware that you have to make a planning, if you don't have the basis it will be more complicated because you can sabotage yourself, there must be a commitment so that the project doesn't fall apart, trust in people, approach and advise you.
