Uno de los sitios que puedes encontrar en el barrio de La Presa es la tumba de Jorge Ibargüengoitia, en medio del Parque Florencio Antillón podemos apreciar que los caminos llevan a un espacio circular al centro de este mismo, con una fuente y en frente de esta una construcción roja con un mosaico centrado que dice: “Aquí descansa Jorge Ibargüengoitia, en el parque de su bisabuelo que luchó contra los franceses.”
¿Sabes quién fue Jorge Ibargüengoitia?
Fue un famoso mexicano nacido el 22 de Enero de 1928, en la ciudad de Guanajuato.
Estudió Filosofía y Letras en la UNAM y Teatro en Nueva York becado por la Fundación Rockefeller.
Gana el premio Casa de las Américas con su novela “Los relámpagos de Agosto” escrita en 1965.
Entre sus otras obras teatrales, novelas, cuentos, etc. están:

Clotilde en su casa (1955)
El atentado (1963)
Maten al león (1969)
Estas ruinas que ves (1974)
Dos crímenes (1974)
La ley de Herodes (1976)

Fallece a los 55 años en Noviembre de 1983, al estrellarse su vuelo cerca de Madrid, España.
Al día de hoy el Gobierno del Estado de Guanajuato, por medio del Instituto Estatal de la Cultura y la Secretaría de Cultura del Gobierno de México, hacen anualmente la convocatoria a el Premio Nacional de Novela Jorge Ibargüengoitia.
Sus restos se pueden visitar en el Parque Florencio Antillón, donde también podemos pasear un rato y leer tranquilamente entre la sombra de sus árboles y la tranquilidad del ambiente.

Tomb of Jorge Ibargüengoitia
One of the sites you can find in the neighborhood of La Presa is the tomb of Jorge Ibargüengoitia, in the middle of Florencio Antillón Park we can appreciate that the paths lead to a circular space in the center of it, with a fountain and in front of it a red construction with a mosaic in the center that says: "Here rests Jorge Ibargüengoitia, in the park of his great grandfather who fought against the French".
Do you know who Jorge Ibargüengoitia was?
He was a famous Mexican born on January 22, 1928, in the city of Guanajuato.
He studied Philosophy and Literature at UNAM and Theater in New York with a scholarship from the Rockefeller Foundation.
He won the Casa de las Americas award with his novel "Los relámpagos de Agosto" written in 1965.

He died at the age of 55 in November 1983, when his flight crashed near Madrid, Spain.
To this day, the Government of the State of Guanajuato, through the State Institute of Culture and the Ministry of Culture of the Government of Mexico, annually announces the Jorge Ibargüengoitia National Novel Prize.
His remains can be visited in the Florencio Antillón Park, where we can also stroll for a while and read quietly in the shade of the trees and the tranquility of the environment.
