Presa de San Renovato
Uno de los atractivos del barrio de La Presa más antiguos y curiosos que podemos encontrar es la famosa Presa de San Renovato.
Construida en 1852 como apoyo a la Presa de la Olla en la distribución y suministro de agua de la ciudad.
Se rediseñó en el S.XX, se pintaron de rojo las paredes y se incorporaron azulejos del artista Guanajuatense Manuel Leal. La parte inferior de la presa se convirtió en un jardín que hoy alberga dos estatuas cuya leyenda atrae a turistas y locales.

¿Conoces la leyenda de las dos comadres?
Cuenta la leyenda que en una ocasión había dos comadres. Ambas madrugaban para tomar agua de la presa en sus ollas y competían por quién la llenaba primero. Un día a una de ellas se le rompió su olla y le pidió a su comadre prestada la suya, pero se negó. Por lo que se pelearon, cayeron a la presa y se ahogaron. Se cree que en castigo a su envidia y mala actitud una se convirtió en lagarto y la otra en serpiente.

San Renovato Dam
One of the oldest and most curious attractions in the neighborhood of La Presa is the famous San Renovato Dam.
It was built in 1852 to support the La Presa de la Olla in the distribution and supply of water to the city.
It was redesigned in the 20th century; the walls were painted red and tiles by the Guanajuato artist Manuel Leal were added. The lower part of the dam became a garden that today houses two statues whose legend attracts tourists and locals.
Do you know the legend of the two comadres?
Legend has it that once upon a time there were two comadres. They both got up early in the morning to get water from the dam in their pots and competed for who could fill it first. One day one of them broke her pot and asked her comadre to borrow hers, but she refused. So, they fought, fell into the dam and drowned. It is believed that in punishment for their envy and bad attitude one became a lizard and the other a snake.
And you can still see them there if you go and visit the San Renovato Dam.
